Highlights

Internalization 101

Since Fabrie was our global first product, I took the initiative to develop and present an international launch plan to the team. This strategy outlined our goals and priorities to ensure everyone was aligned and ready to execute.

Onboarding Matters Most

While Fabrie is designed to be an intuitive SaaS tool for diverse workspaces, specific use cases can sometimes pose challenges. To improve the user experience, I took the lead in redefining the onboarding process. This involved creating a comprehensive knowledge base and implementing a virtual assistant to assist users throughout their journey.

Building Community

As a design collaboration tool, effective documentation involves the creative and aesthetically pleasing presentation of ideas to foster understanding and problem-solving. To this end, I prioritized the enrichment of our templates.

Our clients come from a variety of industries worldwide, each with unique use cases for our tool. To better understand and address these diverse needs, I participated in user research and content brainstorming sessions. This led to the development of additional use case demonstrations, particularly for the fashion, architecture, and game design industries.

Having prepared our content to support daily active client collaboration, we initiated a new campaign, "Design Sandbox," with the aim of inspiring innovation and propelling our community to new heights.

Cool Discoveries

How to Solve the Cold Start Problem?

General Solutions Proposed by Andrew Chen

  • Network Effects: Leverage network effects to create a virtuous cycle where the value of the platform increases as more users join.
  • Seed the Network: Start with a small group of highly engaged users and incentivize them to invite their friends and colleagues.
  • Provide Value Early: Offer a compelling value proposition from the start to attract early adopters.
  • Build Trust: Focus on building trust with users through transparent communication and reliable service.
  • Iterate and Learn: Continuously test and iterate on your product to improve user experience and drive growth.

Case 1: Tinder

  • Problem: How to connect users with potential matches when no one is on the platform?
  • Solution: Tinder used a "hotness ranking" algorithm to artificially inflate the perceived value of the platform, making it more attractive to early adopters.

Case 2: Airbnb

  • Problem: How to attract both hosts and guests to a new platform?
  • Solution: Airbnb initially focused on building trust with hosts by offering generous commission rates and providing professional photography services. This helped them attract a critical mass of listings, which in turn attracted guests.

Case 3: Slack

  • Problem: How to convince teams to switch from existing communication tools to a new platform?
  • Solution: Slack offered a free version with limited features to attract early adopters. As the platform gained traction, they gradually introduced premium features and integrations to encourage users to upgrade.

Case 4: Pinterest

  • Problem: How to build a network of users interested in sharing and discovering visual content?
  • Solution: Pinterest allowed users to easily import their existing collections from other platforms, making it easy to get started. They also focused on creating a visually appealing and easy-to-use interface to encourage user engagement.

Case 5: Uber

  • Problem: How to attract both riders and drivers to a new ride-sharing platform?
  • Solution: Uber initially focused on targeting specific cities and offering incentives to both riders and drivers to build a critical mass of users. They also partnered with existing taxi companies to gain access to their networks.
